So many lovely surprises. Postcards, cards, letters, emails from friends I haven't talked to in a while---in some case years. Neighbors reaching out to help with grocery shopping. Groups setting up zooms. Best, this morning I received a video of my fourteen month old great-grandbabies (by once-removed-kin) dancing to Bolero. Life does go on--dancing.

COLLATERAL BLESSINGS VI
I was walking my dogs this morning when I saw the three-year old twin boys on their twin swings, and heard their grandpa saying, "Up...Up." Across the street, I saw five-year Damien hosing down a truck tarp, his dad sitting in the truck's bed saying, "Good Job." I saw ten-year old Jason riding his bike … Continue reading COLLATERAL BLESSINGS VI

Mary Oliver

Collateral Blessings II
For many years I have said the “Serenity Prayer” --- God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. But, now, five days into sequester because of the corona virus outbreak, I feel the prayer. I am … Continue reading Collateral Blessings II
A Lasting Fragment
Lots of time, sequestered now, to do random re-reading in the books of poetry that fill a case in the living room. No goal in mind…just open to hearing/listening. Last Fragment And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so? I did. To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the … Continue reading A Lasting Fragment
Collateral Blessings I
When I heard the news of the “war” on the corona virus, I did what I always do when confronted with seemingly insurmountable troubles: I slept. I slept nearly the entire week-end, sequestered at home with my cat, two dogs, husband, food, heat and Wi-Fi. This morning, gratefully, I woke up with my “optimism gene” … Continue reading Collateral Blessings I
Settling In
The Papillons’ breeder, Trudy, parks her van in our driveway, and we carry Petco dog-stuff into Lily and Bashi’s designated room in their Forever Home. The human guest bed is still in their room but the south wall is ready for everything dog. Trudy plugs the “dog calmer” into the south wall socket. The Paps … Continue reading Settling In
